Well the unseasonably good weather continues up here in the far north but due to end this weekend. Any free time I have has been spent in the garden and I am very nearly finished doing what is needed. More shrubs have been added and more grass taken away, less cutting Huzzah!!
My Canadian Lilac in full bloom, absolutely alive with bees and a really beautiful shrub when in bloom, I did have another one but it has died due to my ivy taking over. The next phase is putting up a 8x6 shed which will be a useful storage for a lot of my plastic tubs of completed and still to do miniatures.
On the wargames front, not much has happened painting wise but I have received lots of goodies from across the pond, loads of Minden and AWI figure from Fife & Drum, super service as always from Jim and ultra quick delivery at a real decent price, can't beat that!
The figures in the stock pile are some Highlanders, artillery and cavalry for my British army, not far off having most of what I need for this project. French artillery and officers, also got a pile coming form TJ, most of these will be used for the FIW as I have probably enough for the SYW. I also got some Austrian infantry and hussars and these are actually going to be used as a Bavarian army as they used uniforms of a similar cut, so a paint job should make them work.
Well that's about it at the moment, I have three units of British cavalry just arrived from TJ in Spain so they will needed based and hopefully this Sunday will see that happen. Until next time folks.......
Looking forward to seeing your progress on the AWI figures
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to getting them onto the painting table Neil, my American forces are nearly done so the British will be a nice change and F&D are lovely figures.
DeleteNice stuff Donnie, the lilac does look stunning! Sounds like lots of exciting new arrivals at your place...look forward to seeing how you get on painting them all!
ReplyDeleteThe lilac is a thing of beauty to me, my favourite in the whole garden. My glacial painting will hamper me but I will battle on!!
DeleteHey Donnie I’ve the same problem. Lovely weather and too much to do in the garden. Painting miniatures has totally stalled for the moment and I’ve had a game set up for the past week that’s still waiting to be finished. Shouldn’t complain really, I do love this time of the year.
ReplyDeleteI am the same JBM, I shouldn't moan as I do enjoy my garden and pottering about in it, the only drawback is that the lead pile grows!!
DeleteThe Lilac looks really nice, bet it smells great too? Looking forward to see the British Cavalry, all based up.
ReplyDeleteIt is a beauty Ray and does give off a lovely scent and as I said it is alive with bees. The cavalry will probably be a the head of the queue when the painting starts.
DeleteA spectacular bloom indeed, certainly harder to paint figures in good weather ?
ReplyDeleteVery hard to justify it Matt, especially to the missus!
DeleteVery impression lilac specimen! Our lilacs are now passed their peak but still providing some good color.
ReplyDeleteThey are lovely shrubs, my favourites Jon, I am thinking of getting another, we shall see.
DeleteExcellent looking lilacs! Yes I spent most of last weekend in the garden, very nice, pottering around! Luckily my painting happens in the evening so doesn't impact figure painting time!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
All died back now Iain, blossom is all gone. I do enjoy gardening and have a lot going on at the moment, so other hobby time is down to a bit of rebasing, which is enjoyable enough.
DeleteWhat a gorgeous photo! Sounds like you took full advantage of 'them' blue-sky days!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes, James
It is a lovely shrub James and when in full bloom is spectacular.
DeleteSuperb picture...and colors!
ReplyDeleteIt has all died back now Phil, lovely for a short time and then dies away, a little bee magnet though, they seem to love it!
